The Vikings have taken over the north of England, four years ago they took the city of York almost without a fight, and are now consolidating their rule of Northumbria by subduing local Anglo-Saxon settlements around the area. It is the year 870 and a Viking war band led by a man called Ubba is on their way to Whitby to make sure the locals understand who is now in charge, and as a bonus there is the Abbey Church of Streoneshalh to raid. The locals know whats coming, this has happened before, and unwilling to be robbed again they set about their defence.
